Guide
for Child Restraints
Reference: Queensland Transport - Road Safety Guide
Baby
Seats
Recommended for children:
Weight - 8 to18kg
Age - About 6 months to 4 years
Once your
child outgrows the infant restraint they can start using a
child car seat. These restraints are suitable until the child
reaches 18kg (about 4 years old).
Child
car seats can only be used on forward-facing seats. They are
attached by an anchor bolt, a tether strap and the car's seat
belt.
Booster
Seats
Recommended for children:
Weight - 14 to 26kg
Age - About 2 to 7 years
A booster
seat enables a child to use an adult lap-sash belt. Booster
seats are available as a base only or with backs and sides
to provide head support for sleeping. When using a booster
seat with a lap/sash seat belt, the sash part of the belt
must not touch the child's neck. A child is too tall for a
booster seat if their eye level is above the top of the seat
of the car
