Day Selfdrive Route from Alice Springs return

Day 1:
Day 1 - Alice Springs to Ayers Rock Resort
Lave Alice Springs 7am and kick off your adventure
on top of a camel! First stop is an authentic outback
camel farm where you can choose to ride atop one of
these desert giants at Stuart Wells 100KLm south on
the Stuart Highway.
Arrive Ayers Rock Resort early afternoon and you will
have the opportunity to purchase Aboriginal arts and
crafts at the Cultural Centre.
You will be mesmerised as the desert sun sets over
Uluru. Though go to the viewing point early.

Day 2:
Day 2 - Ayers Rock Resort around Kata Tjuta and Uluru
An early start is rewarded with a glorious Uluru sunrise.
While the morning's fresh (and your legs are too!) enjoy
an unguided walk around the base of Uluru.
Then have breakfast and head to the 36 domes of Kata
Tjuta will fascinate you, as you get up close to the
majestic features of this ancient geological formation
during a Valley of the Winds hike. if that's is too
hard take the shorter Walpa Walk. (Only do the walk
if it's not too hot).
In the evening have a experience with a dinner at the
'Sounds of Silence'.

Day 3:
Day 3 - Ayers Rock to Watarrka National Park (Kings
Canyon)
Get there around lunchtime and visit Kings Creek Station
for some of their many optional activities in the afternoon.

Day 4:
Day 4 - Watarrka National Park (Kings Canyon)
Start early when it's cool and get your hiking shoes
on today as we head out to explore the impressive formations
and towering rock faces of Kings Canyon. You will be
left breathless by the sheer size and beauty of the
canyon as we trek through the Amphitheatre, discover
the Lost City, the lush and ancient Garden of Eden and
the North and South Walls.
After this rest for the day.

Day 5:
Watarrka National Park (Kings Canyon) to Alice Springs.
A 5 hour drive down the main roads back to Alice Springs.
In Alice take time and visit the Alice Springs Desert
Park.

Notes:
Fatigue causes many crashes in Australia.
When driving long distances, stop and rest every 1-2
hours.
Try to have someone sit beside you to keep you company
driving as our NT roads can be long and straight.
Alcohol and driving dont mix.
For experienced drivers the blood alcohol level is 0.05.
Provisional drivers and young drivers may not have any
alcohol before driving.
Seat belts and child restraints must be worn by all
vehicle occupants.
Always carry a copy of your drivers license in English.

check distances and driving conditions;
and ensure you have adequate petrol at all times.
Remember, rule Number 1 in the Outback: if your car
breaks down you MUST stay with your vehicle for safety
reasons.

information on camping, National Parks, and permits.
Ensure you are informed re the safety of swimming in
the Top End many areas are not safe to swim due to
crocodiles.
