1 Perth to Albany
Head
south from Perth on the Albany Highway towards the small community
of Cranbrook, about 300 kms from Perth. Enroute there are
several stops for morning tea and lunch. At Cranbrook follow
the signs to The Stirling Range National Park. You will be
amazed at the contrast as these ranges appear to pop out of
the surrounding fields.Take Stirling Range Drive then follow
the Chester Pass Road into Albany. Albany offers a wide range
of cosmopolitan restaurants and a selection of wines from
the nearby Mt. Barker and Porongurup regions. Suggested overnight
stay - Comfort Inn.

2 Albany to Denmark
The
distance between these two towns is only 60 kms which leaves
plenty of time to explore the natural attractions in the Albany
region before a late afternoon drive to Denmark. Make sure
you drive out to the Natural Bridge, The Gap and Whaleworld.
A drive to the top of Mt Clarence gives a panoramic view of
the whole region as well a spectacular views back to The Stirling
Ranges. If wine is of interest, take the long way via Mt.
Barker and sample local vintages at some of the boutique wineries
that are emerging in this region. Suggested overnight
stay - Waterfront Motel.
Day

Again
the distance to your next stop is relatively short, allowing
plenty of time to explore the region. Weather permitting,
the drive along the Ocean Road leads to some fabulous swimming
beaches. Denmark is also famous for its local crafts which
make for the ideal unique Western Australian souvenir. The
next stop is 50 kms towards Walpole at the world famous Tree
Top Walk through the Valley of the Giants. This is a not to
be missed attraction as futuristic steel suspensions systems
allow you to walk above the Tingle Forests to get a birds
eye view of the forest below. The fresh natural air is very
relaxing way to finish your day. Suggested overnight stay
- Tree Top Walk Motel.
Day
5 Margaret River
The
region surrounding the community of Margaret River features
the world’s best combination of beaches and wineries. Beaches
to suit all tastes: surfers, swimmers, families and walkers
are all within easy reach. Wineries too numerous to mention,
some now winning world respect are at your doorstep. Most
wineries do not open until 10am leaving the morning free to
explore the natural attractions and certainly in summer a
swim is a must. Margaret River offers some interesting dining
options, all with the accompaniment of the local vintages.
Overnight - Quest Margaret River.
Day
6 Margaret River to Perth
Plenty
of time for swim or last walk along a deserted beach this
morning. Head north from Margaret River along Caves Road towards
Yallingup and Dunsborough. There are several more wineries
at this northern end of the region that are worth a visit.
The driving time from Margaret River to Perth is approximately
3 hours so you have plenty of time to explore the area and
still be back in Perth before dark.
